Aaron Sprinkle is a Seattle solo artist who emerged from the Christian alternative scene of the early 1990s, first as a guitarist in Poor Old Lu and later as the vocalist and guitarist of Rose Blossom Punch. His solo work began with Moontraveler in 1999, built around gentle acoustic guitar, a smooth voice, looping patterns, and melancholy lyrics shaped by spiritual doubt and redemption. Sprinkle handled nearly every part of the recording himself. On The Kindest Days, fewer loops and fuller melodies made the writing sound more settled, while Bareface reduced the arrangements to sparse, down-home rock with occasional pedal steel. The songs remained quiet and emotionally direct, but their settings grew less confined as he moved from one-man recording toward small-band accompaniment.
In 2001, Sprinkle took a production position with Tooth & Nail Records, shifting much of his working life toward engineering and producing other artists. The 2004 compilation Lackluster was his first solo release for the label and gathered songs from his independent records alongside one new track. In 2005 he formed Fair, an indie rock quartet that released The Best Worst-Case Scenario the following year and returned with Disappearing World in 2010. Sprinkle resumed solo recording with Water & Guns in 2013, followed by Real Life in 2017. Later releases included instrumental projects and the 2021 records Walking Back and Certainty.
