    Ace Troubleshooter was a Christian pop-punk band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, formed in December 1995. John Warne handled the lead vocals and songwriting, giving the group a melodic punk sound marked by fast guitars, simple hooks and frequent relationship songs. The independent Don't Stop a Rockin' combined raw production with unusually comic material, including songs about an electronic penguin and Chef Boyardee ravioli, alongside an acoustic praise song. The 2000 self-titled BEC release tightened the production but reduced the humor, leaving a conventional pop-punk record full of romantic angst. After sustained touring, The Madness of the Crowds broadened the formula in 2002 with emo passages, slower reflective songs and more intricate guitar work while retaining the band's upbeat punk core.

    In 2003, guitarist Isaac Deaton left Ace Troubleshooter, and Toby David joined the group before the final lineup recorded It's Never Enough in 2004. The record kept the band's pop-punk musicianship but devoted all twelve songs to girls and relationships, a narrow focus also present on parts of the earlier catalog. In February 2005, Toby David announced the band's breakup. Warne moved into Relient K as bassist and backing vocalist, while drummer Josh Abbott later played with My Red Hot Nightmare.
