    Disciple is an American Christian metal band formed in Knoxville, Tennessee, in December 1992. An earlier review, dated September 1990, described Paradise as the work of a Swedish five-piece, an account that does not match the band's later-documented Knoxville origin. Musically, the early material combined melodic rock with harmonized backing vocals and piano ballads; the 1993 demo added high, gothic vocals, early-'80s metal phrasing, and a fast second half after a ballad. By My Daddy Can Whip Your Daddy in 1997, the sound had shifted toward crisp, crunchy aggro-alternative hard rock. This Might Sting a Little enlarged the guitars and tightened the drums around groove-heavy metal, rap-like phrasing, conventional singing, and direct Christian lyrics, while retaining acoustic passages and spoken evangelistic material.

    Adrian DiTommasi left soon after the 1992 formation, and Kevin Young eventually assumed bass duties as well as lead vocals. Disciple signed with Warner Resound for the 1997 EP, moved to Rugged Records for its heavier 1999 and 2001 releases, then returned to Slain Records for Back Again in 2003 before signing with INO Records for the 2005 self-titled album. Bassist Joey Fife joined in 2003. In 2008, guitarist Brad Noah and Fife departed; Noah remained involved in songwriting and recording, while new guitarists and a bassist joined. Founding drummer Tim Barrett left in 2010. Further changes followed in 2012, leaving Young as the only original member. Disciple continued independently with Attack in 2014, then signed with Tooth & Nail and released Love Letter Kill Shot in 2019.
