Like all the releases on the new side label of Hopeless Records, Sub City Records, proceeds from this CD go to a great cause. For this CD proceeds go toward the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. Multiple Sclerosis is a "disease of people". It effects a person physically through the brain and spinal cord(central nervous system). As well as emotionally. Basically a material composed mostly of fats(called myelin), that insulates nerves, is degenerated. The cause of MS has not been determined yet. The CD insert goes into great detail explaining MS, its characteristics, causes, diagnosis, and signs/symptoms. So I encourage you to buy this CD, support the bands, the label, and help fight Multiple Sclerosis. In terms of the music 88 Fingers Louie contribute three great songs. 88 Fingers Louie's last full length was released on Hopeless Records a few months back and its great to be able to get 3 more songs from them on this split EP. The opening track called "Out There" has that classic east coast hardcore-punk sound, while the other two tracks, "Slow Chorus Overlap, and "Reparation" have more of a new school punk sound. They are two of my favorite tracks from 88FL to date. The 88 FL songs were recorded by legendary punk rock producer Mass Giorgini The Philadelphia Punk Rock boys Kid Dynamite contribute another three songs, guaranteed to rock your world. These boys have been getting a lot of attention lately, sure it helps that some of their members were in the band Lifetime, and that their last full length album was on the popular indie label Jade Tree Records but I have a feeling this band is going to be around for quite a few years to come. The three songs they contribute are titled, "Heart A Tact", "Breakin's A Memory", and "Rise Above". All three songs deliver that hard hitting punk rock sound that has been a trade mark for this band. Overall this is a great CD, these bands go so well together. They don't sound totally alike, but I think that's a good thing. On both bands recordings the production is great, and the artwork is simple, but pretty cool. I can't stress the importance of supporting this label, and the organizations they donate their money to. Look for many more good things to come from Sub City Records in the future.
