The sophomore release from father/son duo Aaron+Jeoffrey, After The Rain, provides encouragement and inspiration to not only fathers and sons, but to all relationships. This effort is likely to match the radio success of their debut release.
Aaron+Jeoffrey is comprised of Jeoffrey Benward [father] and Aaron Benward [son]. Since the release of their debut, both have been involved in considerably different circumstances regarding relationships. Aaron and his wife, Kenda, became parents of a son named Luke, and Jeoffrey is now the eldest generation of the Benwards following the passing of his father. Now that Aaron is a father, he can relate to both sides of the relationship. The Benwards use their relationship as a role model for all fathers and sons as they have been heavily involved with Promise Keepers, which bases its foundation on family relationships.
After The Rain incorporates a mixture of "blue-eyed soul" with inspirational ballads. The duo's strength lies in their smooth vocal blend and strong lyrics. The title track is a stirring ballad offering hope for getting through life's rough and rocky storms. Other ballads include "Photographs Of Faith," "The Blessing," and the encouraging "Beyond," which describes what heaven will be like when all of life's trials are over:
Beyond my eyes Beyond the sky Where tears turn to hope And hope's the way of life Beyond my fears Beyond here Beyond the realm of time and space I'll see Jesus face to face
Some of the notable up-tempo tracks include "Making My Way To Paradise" (my favorite), "Live That Way," and "A Matter Of When."
After The Rain packs powerful lyrical encouragement and hope set to music that will appeal to AC/CHR fans who enjoy male vocal harmonies.
