Andy Griffith's Just As I Am: 30 Favorite Old Time Hymns is an hour of sweet, heartfelt arrangements that left me toe-tapping, humming or singing along with one of America's best-loved humorists and actor/singers. The disc features several hymn medleys and three stand-alone hymns. Some of the arrangements are very simple and traditional, such as the "Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me" medley. Others are very lively and fitting for the words and message conveyed in the song, such as the march-like arrangement of the "Onward, Christian Soldiers" medley.

Griffith has a "down-home" humanity that makes his voice and performance appealing. Never forgetting the faith that has carried him through career ups-and-downs, family tragedies, and health crises, his sweet, simple arrangements are true to the old country traditions with which he grew up. I would recommend this collection to anyone who likes good old gospel music. You can feel right at home with this album.
