There seems to be something pure in an artist exploring their Christian faith, and bearing their heart, when they are not couched in the CBA marketplace. Look around and take notice of how often this is happening lately (Lifehouse, Seven Channels, Craving Theo, etc.). Atticus Fault's approach is made most notable by the band's superior songcraft. They blend beautiful vocals, sounds, and melodies to create astonishingly strong melodic modern rock. Catchy but never trite. One of the most captivating songs, "Mary Mother," grips the heart, and makes you feel the story being told -- exploring the wonder and emotions of the mother of Jesus. The guitars of Jason Noe here are as noteworthy as the perfect-for-these-ears vocals of Todd Evans. Songs like "Little People," "Soundtrack," and "1000 Years" take those slightly overdriven, chiming guitars that bands like the Violet Burning and The Choir hint at, and take them all the way to melodic perfection. The tones aren't one-dimensional, though, as Ty Tabor's apparent influence can be heavily felt in "Damn" (think "Bitter Sweet" from ...Bulbous). The bottom line is that I have a new CD stuck in my player, and a new band I can't stop talking about.
