This five-man formula for a death/mosh concoction from Van Nuys, California known as Betrayal comes forth with "Reviling Darkness." Both guitarists Matt Maneas and Marcus N. Colon, as well as drummer Brian Meuse, are all formerly of Martyr, which will show some similarities between the old Martyr tapes and this band. The opening track, "Prophets Of Baal", scorches its way into your ears with technical ease. The one thing I notice about Betrayal is their clean, technical sound. "Fear Be Gone" is very reminiscent of early Voivod, with the way it's arranged. Side two blazes with "Frantic" and "When Darkness Reigns". Fans of Believer and Tourniquet will be intrigued with "Reviling Darkness." I would like to hear more of Betrayal.
