    Sixteen year old Casey Page Culbreth steps in to the spotlight with her independently recorded debut album. To appreciate the album there are two things worth remembering. Firstly this is a debut album from a sixteen year old and secondly this is a debut album from a sixteen year old!! So what you get is a singer songwriter starting out on the journey.

    Casey certainly has a powerful voice but she has yet to gain a mature control of her talents. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing out of tune but she's not yet trained her vocal chords to versatility. So, after a few songs, this becomes a little grating.

    Similarly with the songwriting, this is all pretty straight forward with little leaping out and surprising me. A lot of this is cliched so you get;

    "Jesus is a rock and on that rock I stand
    I would rather stand on that rock than on the world's sinking sand.
    God created the night, he created the earth and He created the light.
    He created all we've seen and all we will see and that includes you and me."
    (The Rock)

    We wanna be like Him, we wanna be like Jesus.
    Conformed to Christ.
    We wanna be like Him, we wanna be like Jesus.
    Conformed to Christ.
    (Conformed To Christ)

    Clearly Ms Page will not be qualifying for any Ivor Novello awards but in her own innocent way she sings of the truths that she has been learning, the decisions she is making and the journey she has followed. Hopefully, time will allow her to develop her gifts, maybe through teaming with more experienced songwriters and working with a vocal coach to help her hone her voice.
