Drowningman opens up with an insanely brutal pulse beat, quickly segueing into a breakdown, and back again. Snapcase-like vocals scream one minute, and switch to singing the next. Picture the Dillinger Escape Plan, Embodyment, and ZAO joining forces for an album. There are plenty of time changes and breakdowns, but amazingly enough it doesn't get old. The guitars are extremely melodic for the most part, only resorting to the standard "chug-chug" when the song part requires it. Mix is first rate, very punchy and evenly balanced.
Overall this is an excellent album, not too many problems save for the rather jockish lyrics. Really, though, that's the only complaint I have. The guitars and drum work (especially the insane double bass work) are excellent. This four song EP holds its own against the greater half I've heard.
