Revelation Records. Elliot rocks the world all the way from Louisville, Ky. They have toured all over the country and Europe. They have two other releases, "U.S. Songs," and "If They Do."
I will attempt to write about how great this release is, but I don't think I can do it justice. The music is emo, filled with piano, electronic beats and harmonic vocals. "False Cathedrals," by far surpasses anything Elliot has released in the past (and the previous material is not shabby at all), and embodies excellent song writing. There are so many elements that make this a great album.
First, the lyrics are all supported by background vocals that round out the music perfectly. Second, Elliot doesn't just use the piano on occasion, but supports most songs with beautiful and calculated melodies. Third, just when you think the songs may be a little soft, the driving guitars plunge in head first, infusing the songs with an unlimited amount of power that stretches into the gigawatts. I must have listened to "Drive unto Me" about two dozen times on repeat before I even moved onto the other songs. "Superstitions in Travel," may have one of the best beginnings of any song I've ever heard. "Shallow Like Your Breath," is also an amazing song. If I sound like I'm hyping this CD up it's because I am. If you are down to your last $12 and have a choice between buying food and buying this album, make the right choice and pick up "False Cathedrals." This album is so good that I have no problem in admitting it easily has the power to make me cry. It is that beautiful.
