FM Static are a four-piece pop-rock band from Toronto. This is their first record for Tooth and Nail.

"What Are You Waiting For?" is quite possibly the most radio friendly album released on the Tooth and Nail label to date. Slickly produced (by Aaron Sprinkle) and hook-laden, "WAYWF" sounds like a cross between Matchbox 20 and Simple Plan (leaning heavily toward Matchbox 20). As with those bands, listeners will not have to think very much about what they are listening to. And that, of course, is the point. FM Static seeks to be catchy and they succeed. They try to produce accessible pop songs and they accomplish their goal. If FM Static had a crack team assembled to market their record, there is little doubt they would receive all sorts of airplay on Clear Channel radio and MTV. "WAYWF" is like a candy bar: fun and enjoyable but in the final analysis, sort of empty. It is a solid record, not great, sure to please those looking for something catchy to serve as background music for a party.
