Fun 100 and The Hand...who? That's exactly what I said when I got this album. They are from Canada? Oh geez...right? Both bands are from Abbotsford, BC. and I have no idea where that is either.
When I started listening to this album I started to laugh. It sounded like some nerd with a keyboard that spent too much time alone in his basement. The first song sounded so incredibly cheesy but yet catchy. The second song sounded like a cheap Weezer rip off but right at the end of the song something happened that totally changed my feeling about this album.
Fun 100 broke down into a power violence break down. I was so amazed, I fell down on the floor laughing. The next song was even better...incredibly cheesy, then a power violence breakdown. It was kind of like mixing Atom and His Package and the Locust but not really...it's hard to explain.
The Hand was the second band on this split and I really didn't know what to expect. I think I like this band. I am a fan of power violence and they do a pretty good job of doing it. They combine some electronics into it all, kind of like the Locust but not as over powering. If you like the Locust, P99, The Ultimate Warrior, or Charles Bronson, you'll probably like these guys.
The recording left a lot to be desired but the bands are original.
