If you liked Geoff Moore & The Distance, chances are you will not be disappointed with Geoff Moore's new solo album. It goes back to the basics both in the message of the music and the nature of the sound. It reminds me of many of the former group's greatest hits like 'Good to be Alive' and 'When All Is Said And Done.' The sound is very much like Eli with strong guitar, drums, and vocals.
I liked the album initially and found that it grew on me the more I listened to it. The lyrics are definitely the focus of Geoff's songs. He shares the message of the gospel through very down-to-earth life situations and relationships. Songs like 'Boy Like Me, Man Like You,' 'Thanks To You' (Duet with Steven Curtis Chapman), and 'Best Friends, God's Love, & Great Times' really voice his message for the world.
Geoff is also finding his voice through speaking and writing. He said that music is definitely his first and greatest passion, but he believes he can do more than just music. He had some time off after the band ended which he used to dig deeper into God's Word and spend some quality time with his wife and their two boys. I believe this is were he drew the inspiration for many of his songs on the new album.
Geoff Moore & The Distance ended on a high note and Geoff has continued to play that song: "I embrace the responsibility of the platform God has blessed me with enough that it's keeping me on my knees. I want to go forward prayerfully and with boldness." So, watch for Geoff's fresh voice not only in music, but also in the Christian lecture and author circuits.
