It's great to finally hear the Christian hardcore scene come out of its metal influenced daze and back into its old school sound. Hit The Deck is one of those bands to get the kids back from the kung fu kicks and back into the circle pits. They really have the Minor Threat style down but they add some crew style late 80's hardcore that gives them their edge. Speaking of edge, they are also straight edge which is pretty rad. I really do love the music style of this band but the only problem I have with this band is the lyrics. Cheese laden. Especially the song "xxsex" which is about straight edge kids having multiple sexual relationships and how that violates the true edge mentality. It's a good concept but could we be any cheesier?
Hit The Deck also takes a stab at covering an Iron Cross song "Fight 'em All" and they do a pretty decent job at it. I really did enjoy this album musically and even the concept but I just couldn't get past some of the lyrics.
