The number of Christian pop albums I've actually enjoyed are few in number. However, Windows of Heaven is one of those few. With Windows of Heaven, John Elefante has moved a step back from Mastedon to a lighter, more popular musical style without taking a single step back in the quality of his first solo offering.
The album opens with the "Hello, My Good Friend" representing a tasteful, tamer version of Mastedon. "Window Of Heaven" follows in the same vein as does "What If Our World" and "Take Me To The River." "This Is What Love Is" is one of the most moving, balladic songs I've heard this year. And "Hold Me In Your Arms," a song about the prodigal son, is a truly catchy upbeat Michael Bolton type song that is worth listening to over and over. The album's other ballad, "That's Why God Made the Moon," is a rather nice romantic affair.
All in all, Windows of Heaven is representative of the quality we have come to expect from the Elefantes. A very tasty, but tamer version of Mastedon, this is one I highly recommend.
