Karen Rackham's Mirror of Reality is another UK-based singer/songwriter debut CD. This EP contains five tracks, four from Karen's pen and the fifth from Carolyn Stilwell of Loose Goose (another UK band, this time at the celtic end of things...watch out for a Phantom Tollbooth review). Musically, the songs are fairly easy-listening. Elements of jazz and celtic influences show through, but overall the sound fits very well into the "adult contemporary" box.
Lyrically, the songs show Karen's Christian faith clearly. The strongest lyrics are probably those from Carolyn Stilwell while the others, although promising, could do with some more work. I was a little disappointed that the light feel and airy vocals of "The Battle" didn't quite fit the lyrics.
This album shows a woman clearly working hard to create music for her creator but also shows a need for much more development.
