Casting Down Imaginations is a 10 song split featuring five songs by Kilnemia (the first five) from Mesa, AZ. Perhaps influenced by fellow spirit-filled Arizona boys Overcome, Kilnemia throw down some massive new school hardcore with indie-rock twists. Their melodic vocals are endearing (if maybe a tad inconsistent at times) to say the least, and somehow mesh well with their explosive, brutal, screamed choruses. This is achieved through song progressions that start with minimalistic guitar and build up layer by layer into completely appropriate and vital rancor. Think of a starker old ZAO playing with Joe Christmas. Yeah, I know...but it works most of the time (except song 3). ([email protected])
