KJ-52 makes a return appearance to your CD player along with beatpal TC (producer Todd Collins) on Soul Purpose. Soul Purpose is a rollicking rap romp rocking with righteous rhyme and rhythm. Fans of KJ's previous outings and Todd's production skills will find much to enjoy in this light-hearted and faith-filled plate of rap, soul, funk, and hip-hop.
High points include the infectious "Bounce With Me," "Gonna' Be Alright" (categorize as hip-hop praise!), the funky "No Stopping Me," the soulful praise of "You're the One," and the eternal invitation shared in "Do You Want to Go?" KJ-52's rap skills and Todd Collins' soulful singing make a winning combination on Soul Purpose.
The radio station (WWSP-Soul Purpose radio) theme on the CD is amusing and a tad silly at times (why DO all those callers have southern accents?), but the theme ties the project together as a whole. Oh, and be sure to check out the wacky hidden track.
