Who are those guys in the band LifeForm? dc Talk feeling mellow? The Bill Gaither Trio feeling feisty? DeGarmo & Key on a rock 'n' roll revival tour? Does anybody know? We went through the same juvenile gymnastics with the Swirling Eddies in the early part of this decade. The results are familiar: People spent their time listening to the record to try and discover the identity of the artists, rather than listening to the record for the music. The difference is that The Swirling Eddies was way out on a limb, musically and lyrically, at a time when the Christian market didn't know what to think about alternative music. LifeForm, however, is straight-forward, radio-ready, hooky pop-rock. The songs are primarily cover tunes, borrowed from the likes of Simple Minds and Crowded House, among others. Bottom line: This is a good album. Happy, upbeat, harmonious. Mikey likes it.
