The new lineup of Lightforce - Steve Rowe, Cameron Hall, and Jayson Sherlock - have created a nice work of thrash art. The chops of this three-piece are impressive. The band's tight...all they need is a new vocal style. Steve Rowe's vocals sound forced, coming across as unsincere and an underground imitation of Roger Martinez. Songs like "Illusion of Life" have some really cool chord patterns and bass riffs. The lyrics here, as well as throughout the album, are very hard hitting looks at reality: "How can you guarantee yourself eternal life? Today you are here and tomorrow you die/ Do you know where you'll go when you're gone? There's only two ways to go, up or down/ You'd better decide." "Impulsation" is an excellent tune with a deep groove and the best vocals on the tape. An impressive follow-up to Mystical Thieves, plus it's tons better!
