This takes me back. . . back to the early 1980s in fact. Back when synth pop was the new rock 'n' roll. A time when Phil (Human League) Oakey would boast that playing keyboards was easier on the fingers than guitars. Ah well. . . Mission Giant utilizes its
electronics in greater organic fashion than Joy Electric, and in that respect recall the likes of Gary Numan, New Order, or OMD. Ultimately it's a distinctive musical statement that Mission Giant expresses, especially when you consider the authentic sounds possible with today's samplers. Songs like "Get Fun a Lot" and "You're In Love" may border on camp, but that's alright. There is enough substance to satisfy serious pop fans, even if the 1980s doesn't do anything for you. Good enough for me.
