It's easy to see why Mortification has been around for ten years. Just listen to the new CD, 10 Years Live Not Dead. Starting with a new song, "Dead Man Walking," the music moves through ten years of metal history. "God Rulz" and "King of Kings" end this compilation with a God / Jesus pep rally flare. Yes, pep rally. This ending should be fun while cruising with a car full of friends.

It is hard to believe this is a live set. Recorded while performing during a music festival, the recording quality is second to none. Even the audience sounds come through studio clear. Sound engineers don't mike audiences, do they?

Pulling the insert out of the jewel case was surprising. Unfolding many directions the pictures, cover art, and band thanks are positioned on a poster like layout. It seems Steve Rowe misses the huge covers for vinyl records. Great work packing it all in a standard case.

With this being drummer Keith Bannister's last outing, he is already missed. Keith, who recently got married, moved onto a new career. With Lincoln Coleman being the third guitarist, this leaves Steve as the only original member.

This collection is a must for any Mortification fan. Anyone who likes music heavy and fast should consider this as an addition to their collection.

It's amazing at frontman Steve Rowe's endurance through repeated bouts with cancer, but what's even more awe-inspiring is the existence of this living metal dinosaur in today's musical environment. And the fact that they can still command what sounds like a large, rowdy,…
