Tribulation Force is the name of the third CD by German gothic/industrial band Necromance. With their last CD Wiederuehr der Schmerzen they created a blend of those styles of music that was simply put fantastic. With this new release they maintain both styles of music nicely but seem to have separated them. What I mean is instead of having a song that goes from being goth to being industrial, they have very industrial songs, then they have very gothic songs.

Overall the music on this CD is simply as good as it was previously but for some reason the songs themselves don't quite captivate me like they did on Wiederuehr der Schmerzen. That is with the exception of two songs. Track 1 'Wohl Angetan Von Dieser Welt' is probably the best song on this CD very gritty industrial with lyrics that switch back and forth from English to German. A great song no doubt. The runner up is only a hair behind, track 3 'Eternal Life' the first track to really bring the dark, brooding goth talents of this band, only to be broken by the angelic female vocals singing John 3:16 as the chorus. Man oh man this song will bring tears to your eyes and draw your hands to the skies in praise of the Father.

That's one thing this band has no lack of, that's solid lyrics. Even though about half the album is in their native German tongue, the English lyrics that are presented are top notch glory to God lyrics.

I believe you are the Christ
the son of God, who was to come into this world.

As I said above the music here is at least as good as before, probably it's better as it stands on its own, and for a lot of industrial fans out there you may like that. But for me the songs just are not as memorable as they were before. It's still an excellent release that I've had in my player for some time now. If Undish is too goth for you, and Mental Destruction is just too industrial, Necromance is a nice bridge between the two.

    8/10

Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by NecRoSarXTribulation Force being Necromance's third CD, I must be honest, is really good quality goth/industrial like none I've heard, but there are a couple of moments that made me go "snuh?" Those moments are contained in the song "Eternal Life" where, while yes the female voice is quite angelic, I can't help but be reminded of Roxette in the sudden shift in style. Other than that, let me give the rest…
