Ever wonder what South African hardcore sounds like? Turns out to be a lot like North American hardcore. This is a worthwhile cd and all, but it doesn't have a lot to distinguish itself from the pack. In a lot of ways (general sound/style, production value, etc) it reminds me a lot of Withstand FTHC. There's a couple moments that are really cool, and the rest of the time is just sort of the rest of the time. It's more or less straight-up hXc with a lot of the natural harmonic stuff, and not old-school like The Crucified was old-school, but most of the songs are still around 2:30. The lyrics are quite Christ-centered, which is always good to see, although they do use a mildly socially stigmatized word in the thanks, so if you're offended by that you've been warned. In the end, I'd probably have enjoyed the new NIV or xDiscipleX AD or Figure Four more, but this is also a decent disc and if they're going to come to Cornerstone from South Africa, I can spring $10 for a cd.
