Pepper is a reggae-rock trio from the sandy shores of Kona, Hawaii. In With The Old is the follow up to their debut, Kona Town, which secured them spots on the Warped Tour and got them the "Best World Music" award at the San Diego Music Awards. Unfortunately, rather than creating a new and exciting sophomore release, In With The Old does exactly what its name suggests - rehashes the same old things you have already heard hundreds of times before. The songs sound as though they were taken right off of a Sublime or Red Hot Chili Peppers album; the lyrics are shallow, full of overused clichés and deal with all-too-common topics like girls, heartbreak, and partying; the album gets boring pretty quickly, because of the lack of diversity in songs; and while overall this is not a terrible listen, the album just feels empty and insubstantial. Basically this is just another one of those albums that is tolerable the first time through, but after a few listens, just becomes bland and uninteresting.
