If one were to take the term "Punk Rock" and break it down to its roots, punk and rock n' roll then you would probably have something close to Please Mr. Gravedigger. They combine screamy/scratchy snotty punk rock vocals with just straight up rock n' roll. There are no long guitar solos or mosh parts here, they are just bringing the rock. They would be to punk rock what R'N'R is to hardcore. They are combining two genres, one way by music and one way by vocals, and making their own style. They obviously like David Bowie so you know their hearts are in the rock n' roll spirit. This is yet another band that is willing to stretch the boundaries of punk rock and widen the path.
The San Diego (and maybe the rest of us) scene has a new underground rock genre to follow and nightmare rock would be its name. It's raw, it's scary, and most importantly it's rock n' roll!
