Plumbline's music is hard to pigeonhole. There are definite rock influences throughout the album, crunchy guitars and heavy bass lines, but that is not the predominating sound. Several tracks are piano driven, including "Restore" which rocks along until a jazz piano solo suddenly breaks out. Musically, Plumbline is pretty accomplished. All the songs are well structured and keep the listener entertained.
At first listen, the lead vocals of Joseph King Barkley are a little surprising. I wasn't sure if I would be able to handle an entire album of his vocals. As the album progressed, I found myself starting to enjoy them. The album as a whole is not bad. Give it a chance, but make sure to listen to more than one song before passing judgement.
