If you like the sound of The Waiting with just a touch of Matchbox 20, you will love Polarboy's sophomore release.
Polarboy definitely has a passion for spreading the Gospel of Christ in their music. The song 'Nickel For Green-Eyed Girls' includes experimental retro, much like Soulfood 76 (minus the vibrato). The song is a cry that we need to separate ourselves from society's view of success--we need to live by God's Word, not by "how much money we make." Success in God's eyes in not measured by possessions or titles, but whether we have put our trust in Him or not.
'Do What You Can' sounds much like Caedmon's Call, while 'In My Shoes' includes Harmonica/Acoustic fun. Listeners will find a raw acoustic sound complete with natural string squeaks in, 'One Bad Date.' Keyboard explorations triumph in, 'What I Need,' while the band sings about a man trying to break free from his sinful nature to leave it all at the foot of the cross. The album includes 'I'll Try,' an acoustic speed song about not letting our heads get inflated by pride, and keeping our priorities straight.
The theme of Back from Nowhere is challenging Christians to have a deeper walk with Christ. "We're not looking to create a genre. We're looking to open up hearts to the will of God," states front man, Pol Buckingham. This band really has a heart for Jesus Christ and contributes to the music world with a fresh, driving sound, doing over 200 concerts a year. I'm impressed with their sincerity and desire to put out quality music without compromising the message.
