As far as indie records go, most of them show potential, but would benefit from some expensive production. But this album needs, I repeat, NEEDS to stay lo-fi! If anything is done to "improve" the quality of this album, it will SUCK! It is the lo-fi-ness of this album that makes it so stinkin' cool. There is an old-school, new wave vibe, complete with keyboards reminiscent of Atari, Pop-Rocks, and Tab soda. "Animals at the Disco," reminds me loosely of a very old orchestra hit from the fifties or sixties called "Baby Elephant Walking." It's cool. Trust me. Some tracks have vocals, ranging from a sort of moody spoken word on "Rathenkana," to quasi-Beastie Boys rapping, on "Suckafoo." "Robots Unite," marries a roboticized vocal over a simplistic Gary Numan-style tune. Despite the seemingly eccentric, tongue-in-cheek method of madness, Professor Small has strong spiritual messages throughout the album. "He is Three" is obviously about the Trinity, and is also one of the raddest tracks.
Identified by the monikers, "Professor Television," and "Jughead Small," there is a sort of mysterious superhero quality to this band, (which might be why Treble and Sucre' both like it so much.) The cover also has some really cool superhero characters on it, but they could have done without the multicolored background. This is just all around cool. So check it out!
