I am not sure I have ever heard a demo of that quality!! RETRACE is Quality with a capital Q (and do not see any nasty play on words in it!!!). It is all there: the originality, the sound, the punch, the melody, the talent and the fun... RETRACE throws us 8 tracks performed with the energy and the talent of the "greats" of Hard...! And this, on stage!! The demo was recorded at Habo, in Sweden, the native country of our 4 metallurgists of RETRACE. On this "Live" demo, it is a hyper fruity cocktail that we can savour... Not a single moment of let-up: impossible to be bored listening to RETRACE. It is metallised rock'n roll, often very joyful ("Winner Of The Game", "Hold On Tight", "Riding All Alone") and very melodic ("Never Understand Your Love", "Right Position"). RETRACE allows itself a little incursion into the world of slows with "Children Will Laugh", a song of hope for the children of South Africa. "Love Will Rise" is one of the tracks that best combines the melody and the incredible power RETRACE delivers.
In fact, in RETRACE one finds the fire and the harmonies of SHOUT, and the creativity and the fun of JET CIRCUS, their compatriots. The only criticism of this "Live" demo: it is that the recording does not let you hear the audience, whose applause seems too distant. Which means that on the chorus reprises, you do not hear the crowd. A pity... Because the sound of the demo is tremendous for a live!! RETRACE has put out a more than excellent demo, stuffed with the "talent of the greats"... But wait...!!! I have one more word to add... Are you ready? Well, here it is... RETRACE split up a few months after this demo came out...!!! And unfortunately, they did not have time to put out an album before separating... So, there is only one solution left to you: and it is worth the trouble... Write a note to the address below, and you will receive one of the best demos ever recorded on the world scene...!!
Other coverage for this album
Heaven's Metal #23Reviewed by Doug Van PeltThis live recording captures the heavy melodic of this Swedish quartet. With only a few flaws in the mix, like a lot of high frequencies at times and the audience not participating too loudly during sing-along invitations, this custom tape rocks. Songs like "Hold On Tight" have tons of energy, complete with screams and wailing guitars. If any of you liked their earlier cassette, you'll love this…Similar sounding releases
