With a maxim of "Our rock will destroy you," and lead by an incessantly thought-thinking, Solzhenitsyn-reading, Jesus-loving William Companyman, TSSOTNSA shoots for "high-concept nerd rock" of the arena rock variety. Which is to say that they channel a vibrant fusion of the Clash, Motley Crue, the Kinks, Guns 'n' Roses, REM, and the Specials – with a keyboard and bongos – into some of the most anti-pro-Weezer rock and roll around. But don't put any stock in the Weezer comment. This isn't Wheatus. It's just that same bratty rock-roll spirit, you know? Whatever. The point is that somewhere between a tongue and cheek there lies this cocky, we're-smarter-than-you-so-we-can-do-whatever-we-want-and-you-will-rock-to-it-just-the-same album called Eyes to the Skies that begins on the same bandanna-laden path as Squad Five-0's Bombs Over Broadway, but immediately digresses into some kind of galloping free-for-all of juvenile delinquency, the blues, soul, holy frustration, smarmy intellect, thoughtful spirituality, and glam-rock madness. Yikes. Did I mention their brazen sporadic tempo transitions that actually work just like they are intended to? Or their wanton guitar solos a la Slash and Eddie? Or how they will build up these anthemic progressions and then just trash them for the heck of it? Whatever. It works. (ED– Kids, there is a 'dirty word' in one song on this album. Don't get it if the slang for poop offends you.)
