Following up their split with The World Inside (Jesse Sprinkle) put out by True Tunes, 7HD's indie Marked Yet Spared EP is bit of a departure from the sometimes aggressive but always rhythmic tracks on previous recordings. This is a more careful approach to songwriting and recording. More laid back, especially noticeable in the toned-down but equally effective version of "to be healed." The expansion here is reminiscent of Jars of Clay's growth in Much Afraid and, in parts, of the Driver Eight Watermelon record. Marked Yet Spared is another step in the process of getting somewhere. Where? I'm sure we'll see soon.
