The coming together of Ken Tamplin (ex-JOSHUA, cousin of Sammy Hagar) and Chuck King (ex-IDLE CURE) has produced something very good. The band is called SHOUT, and the album is entitled "It Won't Be Long". SHOUT, a blistering hard FM ("Never Stop", "It Won't Be Long", "Shout",...) on an album packed with hits in the making. No doubt about it: SHOUT is aiming at the Top 40 ("Showdown", "Shout", and even the slow "Find A Way",...). The keyboards are very much in evidence, without being too heavy-handed. The vocals are powerful and clear. No hollering here, nothing but vocals that are well placed, well ordered, and pleasant on the ear. The background vocals are at times imposing, even if they are not as much so as with STRYPER. The 2 heaviest tracks are "Dancin' Around The World" (a very rock track) and "Without You" (fairly boogie around the edges). The two guitarists Chuck King and Ken Tamplin do an excellent job on "Dancin' Round The World", "Showdown", "Timeless Love", "Never Stop",... The lead on the track "Shout" is particularly beefy: it is Lanny Cordola (Giuffria) who handles it. The production is at the top level: SHOUT has considerable means at its disposal. The producer is none other than Ken Tamplin himself, and he knows what he wants. Let us hope that this "hit album" will open new doors for Christian metal on the international scene. If you are fans of Bon Jovi, and more generally of hard FM, look no further: SHOUT!!!

Heaven's Metal #16Reviewed by Doug Van PeltShout is out! The commercial metal/ slick hard rock project from Shout is an impressive debut. Far from your usual dose of metal, this album ranges from airplayish, hard-drivin' commercial metal numbers, to hard-edged radio pop. In other words, every cut on here is the kind of stuff you'd hear on the radio. Shout has studied the successful pop field and given us a wide sampling of its spectrum:…
