I really enjoyed Skypark's first CD, Am I Pretty? It was full of great hooks, funky lines, and honest lyrics. OverBlueCity delivers these same things with an even fresher new look.
Admittedly, my favorite part of this CD are the great hooks. It seems like each song has something to it that makes it very catchy and not easy to forget. Skypark takes a melodic, at times funky, modern, rock and roll sound and continually refines it, making each song sound different and very catchy. Though this album does seem to be mellower as a whole than their first effort, the songs are more memorable -- many of the quirky chorus lines stayed in this reviewer's head for hours at a time. My favorite addresses women who are picture-perfect in a photograph, but in real life show no reflection of what the picture does: "You're much nicer on Kodak paper / You're always smiling at me / You're much nicer on Kodak paper / I really wish you could be / Like the girl in your picture." If punk and modern rock could meld perfectly, this song might be what I have in mind. This song's beat and energy is infectious, and it is just one of many highlights on the CD. On a completely different note, the next song on the disc starts off very slow and melodic, with some really cool subtle guitar innuendos and nice bgvs. You never know what you'll get next from Skypark, but you can be guaranteed that it will be good.
Most modern rock seems to have fallen off to the side of the musical spectrum, losing both its integrity and creativity. Skypark demonstrates that they do not fall in to the "most" category. This disc is fun, creative, and it belongs in your CD collection.

ReAL Magazine 2000Reviewed by Adam L.Every once in a while, there comes a band who startles the world with their fresh ideas and groundbreaking sounds. The Beatles were one such group who did that, along with many others that I do not have space for in this review. There are also bands who would have everyone believe they are "ready to make rock history." That's actually a direct quote from the founder and bass player of Skypark,…
Bandoppler 2000Reviewed by Sucré MusiqueWith albums like "One More Night With the Frogs" and "Am I Pretty," Skypark has had five years to carve out a name for themselves, and a sound that is not punk, not ska, not mod, and not really anything particularly bandwagon-y. (Refreshing, isn't it?) This time around, Ed Stasium produced the album, with an impressive roster of previous projects, like The Ramones, The Smithereens, and Living…Similar sounding releases
