Let me start off by saying I am a huge fan of songs with piano in them. It especially makes me excited when a band like Something Corporate comes along and presents us with what they call "Piano Powered Rock." It's definitely a slight step out of the box and for the most part, I believe it's a good step.
Another thing I enjoy about Something Corporate is lead singer Andrew McMahon's voice. His voice goes with their music almost perfectly and it really adds to the album. This album offers a good variety too. You can do a lot with the piano on just one album and they work with that factor well.
Top Picks: "(Hurricane) The Formal Weather Pattern," "Punk Rock Princess"
Pros: The "unique-ness" of this album is a breath of fresh air and overall I enjoyed the piano element a lot.
Cons: The lyrics. It only gets slightly nasty in the song "If You C Jordan" but that's enough to make me want to turn it off.
The Verdict: Overall, I enjoyed the album but the lyrics, like I stated above, really disappointed me. I can see potential in Something Corporate, I just believe they need a little cleaning in spots.
Amber's Score: 3/5
