The Evoka Project is a five-piece group from North Carolina. "December Drive EP" is the band's debut on AudioLab Records.
TEP's music could be best described as radio-friendly alternative rock. In fact, MTV has even licensed some of the group's songs for background music and so has ESPN. From a comparison standpoint, TEP is a little like Jimmy Eat World or maybe a poppier Seven Day Jesus.
"December Drive EP" definitely shows some promise. The production is polished and the musicianship sounds solid. In fact there are even three decent tracks: "Ordinary" "Standby" and "Red Handed." However, TEP's strength, their radio-friendliness, may also be their Achilles heel.
For the most part "December Drive EP" gets the job done, but it still seriously lacks creativity. If TEP's goal is to get radio airplay, then they're a shoe-in. But something about this band just screams "corporate rock" and there are just too many of those records around for this one to be that memorable.
