The Lead is a radical group from Florida. They are a combination of hardcore punk, speed metal and hard rock. The punk influence infiltrates every area of their music, which occasionally has some screaming and distorted guitars. The metal-head looking for that rough edge should get into The Lead. The Lead formed about two years ago. Their current ministry is to play in clubs only. They are taking a bold stand in the darkness. They are doing the opposite of hiding their light under a bowl, they're shining it brightly in the darkness. (Matthew 5:15) The band consists of: Julio Rey on guitar; Robbie Christie on drums and vocals; and Nina Llopis on bass and vocals. Their Return Fire tape has 19 songs on it, all of which are as to-the-point lyrically as their music is. "Lead Us to Salvation," a two-minute and twelve-second song, states it plainly at the end of the song - "Get right!" Then Julio goes into a frantic guitar solo. "Better Off" is another classic anti-abortion song in the same vein as "Slaughter of the Innocents" by Undercover. The first stanza says, "Better to have been a baby seal/ Than an unborn living baby human/ Baby shoulda been a seal/ Now he's dead like the 17 million."
