emo indie pop math rock

With a sound that sometimes runs an interesting line between Sunny Day Real Estate and Wes Dando -- leaning more to the Wes Dando side, especially in the vocals, percussion, and guitars -- the Operation make shiny indie-pop/emo songs. Lyrics go from abstract to P&W. Nice instrumental bridges with psychedelic elements, quick-step beats, and elementary math rock timing stuff. Room to grow in their song writing, as a few melodies and notes fall flat or go too far out to sea to be pulled back alive, but the band definitely displays an adventurous spirit. Overall, it's a mixed bag with some pretty good songs and some pretty lame ones.
