The movie Almost Famous is a (somewhat) fictional representation of the years Cameron Crowe spent as a teenage rock journalist for Rolling Stone. The soundtrack features songs by artists that he wrote about as well as those that are meaningful to him. From start to finish the songs portrait the movie's carefree spirit yet obtain Crowe's heartfelt sentimental touch. One listen to this collection of songs and you're immediately reminded of the scenes which they serenade.
Seventies music icons such as Led Zeppelin, Simon and Garfunkel, and The Who bring this CD to life. The hit song "Feverdog," performed in the movie by the fictional group Stillwater, was written by Nancy Wilson, of the group Heart, with her husband Crowe. For the classic rock fan I would recommend both the movie and the soundtrack, as you'll be taken to the Seventies through the movie and taken back to the movie through these songs.
