Another great White metal compilation, which has the merit of presenting unsigned bands, or ones that have just been signed: ARSENAL, RAGE OF ANGELS, TAKER, THE LEAD, SECOND CHANCE, and BELIEVER. This compilation is particularly heavy given that it contains no hard FM. Nothing but heavy, thrash and speed. APOSTLE, with "The Sword", confirms the hopes raised by their demo "Hymns" (see WHITE UNDERGROUND) thanks to their excellent neo-classical heavy. RAGE OF ANGELS offers a commercial heavy that recalls WHITE CROSS; very good vocals, and a good guitarist, the Rage Of Angels demonstrates in 4 minutes that the only reason to play rock is Jesus Christ ("Reason To Rock"). ARSENAL has 2 tracks on this compilation: "Message Of Love", a fairly cool track, and "Stay Strong" which is, without any doubt, far superior to the first, and that on every level. Christine Scott's vocals are very good. The band is very beefy, and the whole thing is not without interest. THE LEAD takes charge of the thrash part of the compilation, with "Tunnel Vison". The production is very good: good heavy that turns to fury, with on top of that the vocals of the bassist Nina Llopis... Hold on tight, it shifts. And on the lyrics side, it blows your hair back like mad!! TAKER is perhaps the best band on the compilation, with 2 tracks: the slow "Yesterday, Today And Forever", and "Living By Faith". The slow is very complex at the level of the harmonies. As for "Living By Faith", it is a jewel (a weighty one!). The track is heavy, fairly fast, with (excellent) high-perched vocals. Memorable! And then there is SECOND CHANCE, with "Blazing Wasteland", a track in the style of Metal Church, fairly fast, and very bawling, high-pitched vocals. The solo... I'll say no more! The Robert Lee / Michael Vance tandem is really crazy! Finally, there is the speed with BELIEVER and an unreleased track: "The Chosen". The intro is acoustic, but make no mistake: it is speed, and quality speed. BELIEVER speaks of the coming return of Jesus Christ to earth. In short, EAST COAST METAL is a very good compilation, which has the advantage of offering WM bands that are all new, and chosen from among the best of this new wave!!

Heaven's Metal #18Reviewed by Doug Van PeltThis album is a diverse collection of several different metal sounds: Apostle gives us a neo-classical/ wailing vocalist sound; Rage of Angels furnishes a commercial yet on the edge fun-metal sound; Believer thrashes out some speed metal; Taker offers both a melodic metal ballad and a straight-ahead metal anthem; Second Chance gives us a taste of gritty, decibel-busting power metal a la Saint or…
