Garden State's soundtrack is probably one of the few movie soundtracks that can stand on its own without one ever having to see the movie. The movie is great and the soundtrack is even better.
Zach Braff's (you may recognize him from the TV show Scrubs) directorial debut has also marked his ability to choose music wisely. Within these thirteen tracks Braff has shown his creativity in building up his characters, as well as setting mood throughout his movie, not to mention the mood of the listener. He was able to hand pick each artist without pressure from his producers, which is almost unheard of in that line of work. This CD won't drag you down. It has the opposite effect and has become a great 'life' soundtrack for many.

Give this CD a chance and then, maybe, rent the movie.
