When the Christian music label war is all over and all that is left is the debris, Flying Tart will be the only one left standing... or at least posing. Who are these people?
Starball Contribution sports a picture of a "Jumping Jack" firework with big yellow and green Asian text. Below that it says (in bold English) "20 Songs for $6.98." Well finally! Here's a record company that is willing to admit that they are shamelessly combining "junk drawer" songs to promote their label. Honesty is the best policy, right?
This compilation includes tracks from Flying Tart albums from bands such as Phantasmic, Duraluxe, the Julies, and the (ahem) lovely Situation Taboo. There are also a few songs on here from other Flying Tart compilations (hey! why not?). However, there are many desirable tracks on here that either do not appear anywhere else, or are too obscure to find anymore. Joe Christmas is featured twice with a testosterone inflicted "You're Special To Me" and the coveted "I Love Rock-N-Roll" cover. There is a Duraluxe cut on here that did not make the new album (Rock Music w/ Singing); but it is featured on the Fluffy vs. Phantasmic CD. The Fluffy song is hilarious. It almost made me miss GI Joe (the real GI Joe, not the stuff they make these days...). Stratochief features a funny punk song called "Motorcycle Daddy."
As far as compilation albums go, this is a pretty decent one. The cheesy cover art and the stolen quotes that separate each and every song are done in the style only Flying Tart would think of doing. Reason being: the people at Flying Tart are quite possibly insane! I ask you, who else would try to get away (or want to get away) with stealing a Don Ho song for their album?
