When I first heard about this movie, I had thought it would have some promise to be a fun time... then I saw Jessica Simpson in the cast... I though, "Well, this could be ok, she's not too bright from the get go, so it shouldn't be hard for her to play a bimbo." Then I saw her debauchery of a rock n roll classic, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'." This was the final straw, I wasn't going to waste my time watching a movie this obviously pre-packaged for popularity while lacking substance.
I figured the movie would just move on and be over with soon enough, and I wouldn't have to think about Hollywood ruining another TV series with an unneeded re-make.
Then I received this CD in the mail. I gave it a listen, and while I did hear that horrible Jessica Simpson song, and Willie Nelson tell two really stupid jokes, I heard surprisingly good southern rock from the likes of The Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Charlie Daniels Band, and the list goes on. While this is certainly not a movie I ever cared about, I managed to enjoy my listening of such southern rock greats, and even Willie Nelson's cover of the classic Waylon Jennings' "Good Ol' Boys."
This is not going to go down as one of the great soundtracks of all time, or even of the year, but if you dig some southern rock, aside from Jessica Simpson's horrible song, it's a good pick up.
