Global Warning is a Christian metal band from Snohomish, Washington, formed in 1998. The debut Global Warning drew on late-1980s and early-1990s pop metal, with a retro hard-rock feel that reviewers compared to Rush, Yes, Led Zeppelin, and Petra. The playing was competent, and the guitarist was noted for his solos, though the first singer was judged short on passion. The two-song 2001 promotional release marked a sharp change: the sound became darker and heavier, with rougher vocals and a slower heavy-metal attack. By Enemy Within, the band had moved into alternative metal built on subtuned guitar figures, tightly recorded drums, and an angry tone influenced by Metallica. After Enemy Within, Global Warning continued as an independent band and expanded its distribution beyond its earlier self-released work. Digital Black appeared in 2003, and the band was later associated with Nightmare Records for a two-year distribution arrangement. Its subsequent recorded output included a 2012 release, a 2018 EP, and later singles and compilations, including material issued in 2025. The personnel listed over the years changed: early credits name Steve Carlson, Brian Tomer, Alan Boyd, and Rich Weaver, while later listings add Rylie Baumgartner and David Rummelhart.
