Simply put, Albert React is another Johnny-come-lately screamo band. Grasping tightly to the coattails of similar artists like Taking Back Sunday, Thrice, and Thursday, Albert React don't stray too far from the beaten path of their teary-eyed predecessors. There is some interesting guitar work here and there. The vocals, reminiscent of Taking Back Sunday, are decent, but really nothing new. The album has the energy to get you through most of the disc without getting bored. The lyrics are somewhat unique in that they are written in stream of consciousness- thoughts loosely strung together relating to the writer's experiences. But overall this is a very safe album. There are no groundbreaking elements. There are no real attempts to think outside of the box. When this band decides to take some risks and really go out of their musical comfort zone, that is when they will be able to step out of the shadow of bands like Thursday and Thrice. Until then they will just be another copycat screamo band with an okay record, lost in the background, struggling for the spotlight.
