I am not a huge fan of metal influenced hardcore or metalcore. I like some bands of that style but they have to be able to standout in the overcrowded room that has become the evolving hardcore scene. They have to be extremely talented and they just have to have their own unique sound to catch my attention. The Blinding Light has done that for me. This album is so metal that it hurts. It has some good mosh parts but it is mainly focused in chaos. They are all over the place on this album and they tear it up. Double bass pumping and guitar smashing dominate The Ascension Attempt. The artwork on this album is downright amazing as well. I only have one problem with this band. Their lyrics lack depth and any type of substance. I kind of got lost in the lame rhyme scheme attempts but the voice fits perfectly. Brian Lovro of Threadbare fronts this band. I found myself comparing his vocal styles to that of Snapcase but a lot more metal. This is a good album but will probably only appeal to those people who are into metal/metalcore. Slayer to Converge.
