This is an incredible album. This is the best album we've gotten to review with perhaps the exception of another Alkaline Trio CD, which was a 4 song EP. What we have in the Alkaline Trio is incredibly catchy rock. It totally rocks, it's really catchy, and the lyrics are creative. The drums are amazing and non-stop. The bassist is super creative, not just playing the root notes over and over. The guitarist sticks to the mid register of the guitar and stays away from the typical fifths (power chords) that everyone else uses. They have a punk feel - but the term punk is so beneath them, I hesitate to associate them with it. Finally we have the vocals. The bassist does a good job at singing some songs and does back up vocals a lot. But it's all about the guitarist's voice. Its strong, intense and with a really great tone. The only thing keeping this from being an A+ is that there is some cussing, the snare isn't turned up enough (making the mix lose punch), and the songs on the EP were better. But this is so far the highest grade I have given out. Great album.
