Apologetix...that Christian parody band. Yep that sums 'em up nicely. A lot of you probably have never heard of them before so when I tell you that Biblical Graffiti is their 4th full length album you're going to be somewhat surprised. Others out there are going to remember hearing their songs played on your local radio stations. No matter who you are this is funny stuff.

The band does parodies of popular secular songs. They cover ground from classic rock song, to modern day metal (well metallica but uhhh you know...whatever.) At any rate there is certainly talent here both musically and comedically. They are able to take songs you've heard all your life, add a biblical message them and still churn out a punch line here and there.

Highlights on this album are certainly the rip on Metallica's "Enter Sandman" which becomes the old testament classic "Enter Samson!" What a brutal song actually, sure the story is brutal but I didn't expect Apologetix to get so rough at the end of this song...it's hysterical at first, you laugh your butt off and by the end are cheering Samson, and God's glory as he "grinds them into desert sand." They pull off the song pretty good, but it's not the most intricate Metallica song ever written now is it?

My other favorite is the rip on Led Zeppelin's "Dancing Days" which now altered sings "Dancing Dave" and tells the story of King David's rebuke by his wife. The song accurately portrays the events in a humorous manner, and does conclude with David scolding his wife and God striking her barren as punishment. Cool stuff here.

As a bonus, John "Bermuda" Schwartz joins the band on several tracks playing drums. For those who don't know John is the drummer for Weird Al Yankovic's band. Apparently he is quite impressed both with the band and the style in which they present their message.

Other parodies on this CD include rips on Barenaked Ladies, Matchbox 20, The Beatles, and The Police. Awesome stuff, everyone needs a CD or two by this funny band.

HM Magazine #82Reviewed by Doug Van PeltThese musical clowns are at it again, this time packaging their latest offering up like Pink Floyd's The Wall, artfully using the Zeppelin title Physical Graffiti, and incorporating Michaelangelo's "Hand of God" finger carving out the words "Mene mene tekel parsin" (which God wrote on the wall in Daniel 5:25). It's called Biblical Graffiti, and the entire project is well thought out and humorous.…
