Take everything good about early 90's emo/rock and move it ahead a decade and progress the music and recording qualities and you will get as close to As Tall As Lions as possible. I hear so many different types of influences on this album. Far, Mineral, Sunny Day Real Estate and The Cure are major influential sounds that you will hear bleed through the airwaves.
They have a unique style and quality that pushes them above their peers. They don't really have the pop appeal that would make them anywhere near anything generic. They wear their emotions and their influences on their sleeves and it comes out in an amazing swing of alternative rock. If you are a fan of their influences or a fan of bands like Mae, Coheed and Cambria and Further Seems Forever (pre Jason) you will dig this sound
